WICA is the acronym for the newly formed Washington Irrigation Contractors Association. This organization is an outgrowth of what was formerly the Washington Chapter of the Irrigation Association (WIA).

Last year meetings and discussions were held by the WIA membership and Board of Directors and it was decided that it would be more effective for Washington irrigation contractors to function as a separate non-profit corporation than as an Irrigation Association affiliate. This was done for structural and logistical reasons and is no reflection on the national Irrigation Association. The new group (WICA) is still affiliating itself with the IA national, just not as a chapter.

WICA is run by contractors and will focus all of its efforts on improving business conditions for its members. It will shortly begin an aggressive marketing campaign to promote WICA members to homeowners, general contractors developers and other key customers.

WICA has created high standards for its members that will elevate and separate them from others. We intend to capitalize on the professionalism of our members to promote quality oriented, professional contractors to the Washington market.

WICA’s main goal is to function as a trade association. Everything we do will be aimed at looking after the business interests of our members. The stated purpose of the organization is as follows:

"The association is a voluntary, nonprofit organization formed to improve the business conditions of its members by advancing the; development, proper use and acceptance of automatic irrigation systems for all possible applications, to promote water conservation and more economical crop production through the use of irrigation; to conserve energy through efficient design and operation of irrigation systems; to enhance the environment by expanding efficient use of irrigation for landscape maintenance, dust and erosion control; to collect and disseminate information regarding irrigation of value to members of the association; to allied industries and to the public; to acquaint public and private agencies, institutions and organizations with developments in the industry and the part the industry occupies in the economy and development of the state; to conduct educational programs regarding the industry; and to carry out such other lawful trade association activities as the Board of Directors may direct, provided, however, that the purposes for which the corporation is formed shall at all times be consistent with Section 501©(6) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as it now exists or as hereafter amended the "Code."

We look forward to developing a vibrant, dynamic organization that will help your business grow and develop professionally.
